CBCF X WeDesign Executive Education in Sustainable Fashion Program to Launch New Season on March 16th

NEW YORK – March 12, 2020 – Yue-Sai Kan China Beauty Charity Fund (CBCF), in partnership with design education organization WeDesign Group Inc., today announced the Spring 2020 schedule of their trailblazing Executive Education in Sustainable Fashion Master Talks, premiering Monday, March 16.

Conducted in English with Chinese subtitles, the free series of weekly online masterclasses is tailored to executives and professionals engaged in fashion, beauty and lifestyle products and services, designed to provide them with exclusive insights and design-thinking skills to create new sustainable solutions, build profitable companies, and set themselves up for successful futures.

The Spring 2020 series gives unprecedented access to six industry insiders and magnates from both China and the U.S. Hosted by WeDesign’s Simon Collins and Jasonpaul McCarthy, each episode highlights the subject’s strategy, success and vision for incorporating sustainability into their corporate DNA while maintaining industry dominance. These will be available free to anyone who registers online at www.wedesign.org/signup-online.

The new classes are:

  • March 16 at 9 a.m. EDT – “The Future of Big Denim: How to Make Jeans Sustainable” with Paul Dillinger, vice president of global product innovation at Levi Strauss & Co.

 

Recorded at the Levi’s Showroom in New York’s SoHo, Dillinger discusses Levi’s deep and multidimensional commitment to sustainability and ethics within its business and supply chain. He details the array of products and projects he is leading and collaborating on that are transforming possibilities for sustainable fashion in denim. This riveting conversation inspires and engages with ideas for infusing sustainability and ethics into companies of all sizes and types.

  • March 23 at 9 a.m. EDT – “Sustainable Fashion: The Global View From China” with Shaway Yeh, founder of Yehyehyeh; group style editorial director, Modern Media Group

Shaway Yeh speaks about the evolution and influence of her work in fashion and sustainability. From former editor to sustainability consultant for major fashion brands, Yeh is at the vanguard of understanding the future trajectory of sustainability in the fashion industry in China and the potential of these corporations can be innovative and make change.

  • March 30 at 9 a.m. EDT – “How to Influence the Industry and Get People to Pay Attention” with Marina Testino, sustainable fashion activist and creative director

 

Sustainable fashion “artivist,” creative director and model Marina Testino speaks about her campaigns, creative direction work, and guiding philosophy in promoting and advancing sustainability within fashion. She discusses how she raises awareness, garners inspiration for new campaigns, and her ethical standards when approaching business and creative operations.

  • April 6 at 9 a.m. EDT – “How to Responsibly Connect Creativity With Sustainability” with Maurizio Donadi, founder of Atelier & Repairs

 

WeDesign Academic Director Jasonpaul McCarthy steps in to speak with Maurizio Donadi, the creative force behind Atelier & Repairs, whose mission is to lead the movement of excess reduction in the apparel and textile industries by responsibly connecting creativity with sustainability. Donadi explains how he created Atelier & Repairs after years being in positions that contributed to the current fashion crisis. He shares the challenges and opportunities to redefine fashion systems when there is no manual to say how to do things better.

Additionally, on April 13 at 9 a.m. EDT, Claire Kells, senior manager for participant engagement at the United Nations Global Compact, the U.N.’s corporate sustainability initiative, will talk about how fashion interacts with different industries, and how sustainable solutions are found in a variety industries for the fashion industry to draw inspiration from. And on April 20 at 9 a.m. EDT, Vogue Lexus Sustainability Resident and Parsons Alumni Jonathan Cohen, who built his Fashion brand from the ground up and embraced sustainability out of necessity, will discuss recycling and repurposing for sustainable luxury.
